SEC 2 ASSESSMENT 2 (CA2): Sexuality Assignment (30%)

due date: tuesday

pick any one of the two sexuality topics covered in the talks and do a booklet on it.

gender identity or
differences between male and female

your booklet should address the following:

Introduction- why is this topic you have chose important? who is it important to?
what are some key points you have learnt about this topic?
what are some real world applicationsor examples of the topic we see around us (e.g using sex to sell in magazines, advertisments) ? you may wish to cut out these images and paste them in the booklet and include some short reflections on whetheryou think they are appropriate.
what do you think are the effects of such applications in real life ?
what are some things teenagers like you should bear in mind with regards to the topic of sexuality? (e.g making informed choices)
Conclusion- where do we go from here? any changes wish to see? more responsibility?

some important points:

Students are free to include other components (e.g statistics), as long as they are relevant to their topic.
No lewd or explicit images should be used.

EFL is coming in 3 days time so in case u forgot the thingd to bring then here it is.

5 t-shirt, 4 shorts & 2 track pants (please bring dry fit clothes so that it will dry easily and also so that u wont bring lots of clothes.)

undergarments

slipper/sandals

2 pairs of track shoes (expect one to get wet) & 3 pairs of sock

windbreaker & poncho

towels (1 shower and i face towel)

toiletries.

toilet rolls & tissue paper

cap & sun block (optional)

insect repellent

water bottle (about 1L)- compulsory! we'll be climbing up the mountain and the teachers do not want u to be dehydrated.

sleeping bag-IS A MUST!

fork,spoon and mugs-teacher advise us not to bring plastic fork,spoons and mugs. why? plastics spoons and forks can break easily and for plastic mugs u'll be putting hot water in it and u might get scalded the plastic mug will also lost it shape

torchlight with batteries-optional but u may wish to light ur way to the toilet at night.

umbrella/raincoat (optional)

EFL notes and writing materials

plastics bags & zip lock bags- please bring a big A4 size zip lock bag to put ur EFL notes it might get wet so u can put it inside ur zip lock bag

other personal items (eg personal medications,asthna inhalers etc.)

your own personal medication- if u have history of asthma please bring ur inhaler.

REMINDERS:

do not bring valuable items to the camp eg handphones, ipods,digital equipments,extra cash or jewellery. bring them and it will be YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to look after them not the TEACHERS'

write the name on your belongings.

assemble in school in PE t-shirt and bermudas/culottes/track pants.

bring 2-3 dark t-shirts as well

camera for ur project but please be responsible for ur own camera

if the teachers gave us our passport please dun ask ur friends to hold it for she might misplace it .

so be sure that u'll bring everything u need especially panadols in case u got sick or something.

CA1 starts on Monday. i hope all of u will revise for our exams this weekend. we'll be having our maths and science test on Monday so u better don't forget your calculators and other mathematical instruments because no sharing is allowed. so yeah, study hard! gud luck for CA1!

ford factory!

last Thursday Feb.19,2009, the class of 2 st Joan went for learning journey. some of us didn't come though including me,Steph,Eunice and so on we really want to come though :(.But i asked my friend, Aarthi to do a write up about the learning journey. so this is her write up...

during the visit to the "FORD FACTORY", there were many things that we enjoyed. we also learnt new things. first, we visited the museum. the museum had guns, records and many more old items that we used during the olden times. we were very curious to know more about them. so, for that there were also many information. at the museum, we went to watch a short clip which was about 25 minutes. there were some people who told us about the the war between Singapore and japan. the clip was very sentimental. some things that took place there was that the army of japan actually punished the Singaporeans by cutting off their hands and by many cruel activities. then we were given a worksheet to fill up. the visit to the museum was a memorable one.

after going to the museum, we then went to a cemetery. it contains the tombs of people who died for Singapore. it was very touching to see that many died for the freedom of Singapore. some information that the instructor gave us was that there were many Indians who died for Singapore than the others. from many other countries, there were also people coming to protect Singapore. we went to a particular place at the cemetery where there were many many names of the people who died for Singapore. there were more than 75,000 names. we were very surprised that the Indians also came to Singapore to protect her. we took photos of the tombs and the other places. from the top of the cemetery, it was really a very good scenery to watch. it was really touching and good experience visiting the cemetery.
